Why is the calculator important?
Hanging laundry on the lines is good for the environment and also saves electricity and money. Use the calculator to:
A. Make sure the laundry dries before it starts raining.
B. If you are drying at home, know if you should turn on the heating or a fan to speed up the drying process.
C. If you need a shirt for a certain event, then know whether to wash it now or if you can also wash it tomorrow.
Rules of thumb for the calculator
If you hang laundry at home without heating, the temperature will be the average day and night, as well as the humidity.
If you hang laundry at home with heating, the temperature will be the maximum temperature, i.e. the midday temperature.
Towels, winter shirts, or jeans are 2 mm thick.
Short shirts are 1 mm thick.
Evaporator shirt, the effective thickness is 0.5 mm.
The calculator works only above zero degrees Celsius.
Tips
If you hang laundry at home and do not turn on the heating, you should open a window (preferably two windows or a window and a door).
The laundry that dries the slowest should be put on the outer ropes.
It is better to hang the laundry in a spacious way.
If the clothes were slightly folded when hung (for example near the sleeves), their effective thickness is doubled.
Shake your clothes before hanging them, this will cause fewer wrinkles and can remove any dirt left on the clothes.
If possible, hang the laundry with the clotheslines parallel to the direction of the average wind.
If the wind is strong, it is better to use more clothespins (clothes pegs).
